when my family went to disney world we went on the haunted mansion ride and this actor dressed as a skeleton came up to our cart and got right in my three year old brothers face and whispered “are you scared?” and my brother kissed him on the nose and the guy laughed so hard he had to leave
Try to tell me that there is no pressure on men to have a good image. Try me, mother fucker.
Double standard right here, and it ain’t cool!
this is the greatest post on this site
Okay yes but the thing is this id. Not a good post? At all, really?
First of all, the two situations shown aren’t really shown to be equal…
Like, the girl is wearing makeup and her hair is pretty well acceptable and like. She’s very clearly someone who takes care of her appearance? Also, she and the boy drawn are drawn to be about to kiss, and they look very loving, which implies that they’re in a relationship, and the image is pretty sweet overall.
Meanwhile, the man is drawn with a fedora and a neckbeard and a ponytail. He looks unkempt as hell, and is basically drawn to be the common brony-memeblogger-Nice Guy-redditor stereotype. He’s purposefully drawn to be someone that people are going to look at and go, “ew, what a creep.” If he were drawn to be as mindful of his appearance as the girl was, I assure you that almost no one would be calling him a creep then. They’d think it’s a cute image. Also, he’s drawn kissing her breasts, which, in juxtaposition with the other image, shows him to be putting the focus more on her body than her as a person, which again, adds to the whole “fantasy” thing.
Second, are we just going to ignore exactly how off-point those captions are?
Especially the one under the fat girl, holy shit. First of all, where do you see the “you don’t need to lose a pound” attitude on a girl this size anywhere other than very specific parts of Tumblr? Oh, that’s right. LITERALLY NOWHERE. Women across the country are constantly bombarded with imagery telling them that they shouldn’t be bigger than a size 6, or else they’re disgusting and lazy. So, that’s invalid.
To address some other points in that caption:
- Nowhere is anyone implying that men need to get “fashionable hairstyles that bar them from most jobs”. Literally no one is saying that. Where did you even get that? What?
- "make 100k a year" literally no one is saying that. What are you doing
- "(that is, the human embodiment of sloth)" OKAY NOW HOLD UP. HOLD THE FUCK OFF.
I’m taking this out of the bullet point because WHAT THE FUCK.
So are you saying that fat people are the embodiment of sloth? So them you should have no problem with the fat man being shown as lazy, right? What’s that? It’s only bad when women are shown to be fat and confident? What’s that you say? You’re a gross fat-shaming misogynist? I couldn’t agree more
This post is so gross I’m so angry stop saying that how fat men are perceived and how fat women are perceived is equal because it’s NOT
